Sometimes it's easy to forget what Thanksgiving is all about. It's a wonderful time to be with family, friends, and loved ones, to eat amazing food, and to do some great shopping--- but it is also a time to be thankful for all that we have!!
My Uncle Jim sent me an e-mail a few weeks back and mentioned that I have so much to be thankful for and he's right! I live in Washington, DC, have an amazing job at AU, am working on my Masters degree at Wesley Seminary, have an amazing family, and a wonderful boyfriend. Uncle Jim, you're right! I am so thankful for all that I have been given and all that those around me have been given.
I am very grateful for all of the things I have listed above, but the one thing I left out, which is usually forgotten, is my health. When our health is good I think it is easy to overlook all the things our body is protecting us from. I am grateful to be healthy and to be able to train for this marathon. During this holiday season I want to remember all of those individuals who are ill and/ or battling leukemia. "An estimated 245,225 people in the United States are living with, or are in remission from, leukemia. An estimated 44,790 new cases of leukemia will be diagnosed in the United States in 2009." Today there are families who are supporting loved ones with leukemia.... Take some time this holiday season to be thankful for your health and to think about those who are battling leukemia. This website is inspiring and will bring many tears to your eyes! www.llslifemosaic.com
Training for my marathon officially begins on December 5, 2009! I am a little nervous but am very excited! Thank you all for your support and Happy Thanksgiving!
Ashley
