Had I known... but now we do!

I have been amazed over these past few months how many people have been affected by blood cancer.  I had no idea!

Co-workers have lost loved ones to Leukemia.  Celebrities are battling blood cancer.  And each one of my team mates are running for not only our honored Washington, DC team mate, but also for their loved ones who have had or are currently battling leukemia and lymphoma.

Many people have asked me, "Why are you running for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society?"  At first, I wasn't 100% sure, I just knew that it touched my heart and was something else I could do beyond my blood donations and my listing on the bone marrow list.  Prior to November, I did not know anyone who battled Leukemia but I have since been touched by so many people!

As I shared after my first TEAM in Training meeting, Trevor, one of my team mates was diagnosed in October and even though he is going through chemotherapy treatments is training for the National Marathon in March for TEAM in Training!  Trevor impacts my life every time I see him.  I am running for Trevor.

This past week, I learned that two of my co-workers lost loved ones to Leukemia.  I am running for their loved ones.

Last Sunday as I watched Michael C. Hall, of the show Dexter, win a Golden Globe I wondered "why is he wearing that beanie?"  I have since learned that he has battled Hodgkin's lymphoma and has undergone chemotherapy for his cancer. I am running for Michael C. Hall.

I am running for all those out there who are battling this cancer and for those who stand beside loved ones battling Leukemia and Lymphoma!

I need your support!  The people mentioned above, need your support!

To date I have raised $1,200 and I am so grateful for everyone who had donated!  That's 40% of my goal of $3,000.  Please help me to reach 100% before April 1, 2010.  The impact of this fundraising is indescribable (see my list below of ways funds are used to help those fighting this cancer).

My training is going great.  I am running 8 miles this Saturday.....  GO TEAM!
