Last night, February 17, I had a happy hour fundraiser with a couple of my team mates downtown DC. We had a great time and raised $400 for LLS! After a long day at work and an awesome happy hour, I hopped in my car and headed out of the parking garage. Driving downtown DC isn't too bad, but finding highway 395 is... After a few random turns and a drive pass the capital, flashing red and blue lights filled my rear view mirror.
As soon as I was pulled over I realized I never turned my headlights on... oops! But I never looked down since I was looking for 395 signs. I gave the cop my information, apologized for not turning my lights on and explained that I was heading home from a fundraiser. He asked if I had been drinking, which I hadn't (amen) so I said no. He asked what fundraiser and I went on to share about LLS and Team in Training.
The cop then shared with me that he lost his mother in law very quickly to a form of Lymphoma.
It was so sad to hear and once again shocked me to hear of another person who has lost a loved one to this cancer. I was happy to not receive a ticket, but I was saddened to hear of the officer's loss.
Your donations help so many people--- and I know I am running for all those people who are battling blood cancer and am supporting those who have lost someone to Leukemia or Lymphoma.
